I’m having trouble accessing my Facebook account and I think the email address associated with it might not be correct or I can’t remember it. How can I check or find out my Facebook email address to regain access to my account?
If you can’t remember your Facebook email address, you can actually try a few things to find it. First, if you’re logged in on any devices, go to “Settings” > “General” > “Contact Info” to see the email linked to your account. If you’re logged out and can’t remember it, try using the account recovery feature. On the Facebook login page, click “Forgotten Account?” and type in your phone number, name, or possible email addresses you think might be associated. Facebook will try to locate your account for you and show the associated email (partially hidden). If none of this works, dig through old emails and search for “Facebook” to find anything they may have sent you in the past. Worst case? Try every email you’ve got. Who needs sanity anyway, right?
If you’re locked out and can’t figure out your Facebook email, I’ll level with you—it’s a pain, but not impossible. One trick @ombrasilente missed: if you ever synced your Facebook account with a service like Gmail, check your Google account under “Security” > “Third-party apps with account access.” Sometimes it lists the email Facebook used.
Another sneaky move? Try digging into your browser history or saved passwords (if your browser autofills them). Look up “facebook.com” there—sometimes the email linked to the login shows up.
Also, think about usernames. Facebook profiles sometimes link usernames instead of emails. If you can remember your username (the one that appears at the end of your profile URL), plug that into the recovery tool. Worst case, you’ll at least have narrowed things down more.
I wouldn’t go the “forgot password” hail Mary if you don’t even suspect the right email because getting spammed or locked out of multiple emails you try is just chef’s kiss delightful chaos. Pick your battles.
